How to Build a Brand Your Dream Audience Connects With
What helped me realign and attract the right clients
There was a point in my business where things looked good on paper… but didn’t quite feel right. I was landing good clients. Nice people. Solid projects. Work I was grateful for. And yet—something felt off.
I wasn’t excited. My heart wasn’t fully in it. The projects felt disconnected from what I actually wanted to be doing in my business. And after a lot of reflection, I realized something important:
And I knew it wasn’t about them! It was about how I was showing up. My branding, the way I spoke about my work, the content I was sharing...I realized it didn’t quite align with the type of clients I actually wanted to attract.
So I made small shifts: refined my messaging, shared more of the work that lit me up, and spoke directly to the kind of clients I wanted to work with.
And guess what? It worked!
I started booking dream clients (stalk my updated porfolio here!!!)—the kind that aligned perfectly with my niche, my aesthetic, and my energy. Projects that made me feel confident, creative, and genuinely excited about my work again.
I’m talking... exactly in the niche and aesthetic that I know and love... ahemm, Tay Takes a Trip. (she's amazing, btw).
That shift?
Showing up as myself, clearly and confidently. It changed everything.
There’s a quote I always come back to: “When you speak to everyone, you speak to no one.” And that couldn’t be more true!!
The clearer you are about who you are, the more naturally you attract the right people—and gently repel the ones who aren’t the right fit. And this is completely okay, in fact, it's what you want.
If you’re in a season where things feel “off” with your brand, maybe your bookings have slowed, your sales aren’t converting, or you're attracting the wrong kind of people here are 6 brand focused tips that helped me start booking my dream clients.
Branding that attracts your dream audience
〰️
Branding that attracts your dream audience 〰️
1. Is your brand visually telling one story?
When your fonts, colors, and imagery aren’t aligned across platforms, it can feel a little chaotic (and confusing) to your potential clients/customers.
Quick tip:
Pull up your IG grid, website, and latest email. Do they all look like they’re coming from the SAME brand?
Ask yourself:Are your brand fonts used consistently?
Are you using the same color palette everywhere?
Are your photos edited in a consistent tone/vibe?
Are your reel covers using the same font?
If not, pick just one area to refresh this month (or if you’re an overachiever like me… go off and do it all).
It’ll make a world of difference and your online presence will feel sooo much more cohesive at every touchpoint.
2. How to get more mileage out of your logo suite
If you’re only working with one logo file, it’s time to expand your suite. This is a GAME CHANGER for creating a more cohesive presence.
Here are some ways to get the most out of your logos:Use a secondary logo for your social profile, stickers, or thank you cards
Add a submark as a watermark, favicon or in the footer of your site, or on merch
Create custom icons or patterns to give your brand a polished, professional feel (and add in that personality piece that becomes so recognizable)
Your logo suite should be working overtime for you… not sitting in a folder collecting dust. But don’t feel bad if they have been, now you can go use them throughout your brand touchpoints!!
3. Brand illustrations are more powerful than you think
They’re cute, yes—but also incredibly functional! They add personality, style, and consistency across your brand and help you stand out in the scroll.
(P.S. I talk more in depth on why your brand illustrations matter in this post).
Where to use them:
Instagram graphics: carousels, stories, even reels
Website sections: sprinkled throughout for a little visual magic
Packaging or thank you cards: especially 2-sided designs
Email footers or blogs: perfect for a pop of personality
Think of them as the extra sprinkles on top that make your brand instantly recognizable.
4. The one sentence that defines your brand
Try this formula:
I help [who you help] [do what] so they can [desired outcome].
Example: I design artful, vibe-driven brands & websites for creatives who who want their visuals to reflect the heart of their work.
Nail this, and you give people a reason to stick around!Add it to your IG bio or your website so people immediately know who you are, what you do, and how you can help them… no guessing required!
5. Finding your brand voice and owning it
If you’re attracting the wrong people, your messaging might need a little tweak.
Start with this:Write down 3 adjectives that describe your brand’s vibe (e.g. bold, energetic, earthy.. whatever feels right.)
Identify your brand voice: Is it casual and friendly? Warm and encouraging? Punchy and confident?
Jot down go to phrases or signature lines. These are GOLD for captions, website copy, emails, videos… even merch.
Then, look at your content through that lens.
Does the way you write sound like those 3 words?
Does your website copy match the voice you described?
Are you using those signature phrases consistently?
The more you align your visuals and your voice, the more magnetic your brand becomes.
Here’s a fun exercise: Imagine explaining your work to your dream client at a coffee shop. How would you talk about it in a way that makes them say “I NEED that”? That’s your brand voice.
6. How to stay on brand without overthinking it
You’ve done the work! Now it’s all about keeping things consistent. That’s what builds recognition and trust over time.
Keep these in mind:
Is your tone of voice consistent in captions, emails, and site copy?
Are your brand colors showing up in your Canva templates and website?
Do you have a go-to folder with all your brand elements: logos, fonts, templates, signature phrases?
When everything lives in one place, showing up on brand becomes SO much easier… and you don’t have to think so hard every time you create something.
So if you made it this far, here’s the heart of it:
Branding that attracts your dream audience isn’t about chasing trends or adding more noise. It’s about clarity. Alignment. Intention!!
It’s about making sure that when someone lands on your website or Instagram, they instantly get it. They understand your vibe. They trust your work. They feel like you’re speaking directly to them.
Because when your brand feels aligned, your marketing gets easier. Your content flows faster. And your offers stop feeling “optional.” They start feeling like a no brainer “yesss!".
If you’re sitting there thinking, “I know what I want it to feel like, I just don’t know how to get it there…”

It’s a super intentional deep dive where we create a brand that feels aligned, elevated, and ready to make an impact… and you’ll have your final files later that week so you can hit the ground running.
Here’s what Dre, owner of Loon Lake Candles, had to say about her Brand Intensive project:
"Everything looks better than I ever could have imagined. I just want to thank you for your creativeness, your help, and overall being a light on this earth. You crushed this project and I cannot WAIT to show all the Loonies what's new and instore to come. It feels surreal even to have a direction when it comes to branding and without you I'd feel so all over the place still. I am just over the moon with how this all came together." - Dre Delaney, Loon Lake Candles
If you want to explore working together, you can download my Investment Guide and see all the ways I can support you whether that’s a full brand, brand and website, or something in between.
