7 Ways to Make Your Brand Feel More Like YOU
Sometimes, your brand just… stops feeling like you.
The same way you wake up one morning, open your closet, and suddenly want to get rid of half your clothes — your brand can reach a point where it’s outdated, no longer your vibe, or just doesn’t fit anymore.
That’s what happened to me recently — with my actual closet.
Three trash bags. FULL. Heavy as heck.
I was done holding onto clothes that didn’t feel like me anymore. And honestly? Your brand might need the same kind of clean out.
Here’s how to know it’s time to evolve, plus 7 ways to make your brand feel more like YOU.
1. Curate an Editing Style That Resonates
Curate an editing style that resonates. Your photos and videos should feel unmistakably you! Your signature editing style is a big part of what makes your visuals feel cohesive and intentional. And if you feel like you aren't good at editing, it's just like anything else you're learning, practice and you will get better!!
Try this: Spend some time playing with editing apps, filters, and tones that align with your brand’s mood (is your vibe warm, vibrant, moody, bright?).
Pinpoint an editing style that resonates with you (create a pinterest board to see examples of what you love all together). Once you find a style that feels most like you, stick with it! A lot of editing apps allow you to save or copy and paste edits across multiple photos. Consistency = instant brand recognition!
2. Design that stands out > Design that fits in
If your branding looks like everyone else’s, it's just the hard truth that people will probably forget it. But when you lean into custom visuals, elevated design, and what makes you unique, that’s when you become memorable!
Try this: Take note of what you naturally gravitate toward (in visuals, voice, style, and vibe) even if it feels a little “offbeat” or different from what others in your industry are doing. That’s where your brand magic lives!
A few ways to lean into that:
→ Rebrand to reflect today’s version of you (it may just be TIME for a fresh start!)
→ Develop a custom carousel or reels style that feels signature (people remember repetition, what's something you can do over and over that feels effortless?)
→ Start a mini video series sharing your behind the scenes process. (Think: behind the scenes of your process, “30 days of ___,” or “sharing ___ until I find my people.” The goal is connection, not perfection!)
→ Use your quirks, voice, and taste as a filter for every creative decision. (Ask yourself: What would your inner child think is cool? That’s usually the good stuff!)
3. Make your brand a vibe they want to be a part of
Think beyond aesthetics. What energy are you creating through your overall brand, online presence, and content? Design, words, photography, videography, it all adds up to a feeling.
Try this: Try creating a simple vibe checklist. Pick 3 core emotions you want people to consistently feel when they interact with your brand. Maybe you're a photographer and your brand evokes a sense of feeling welcomed, inspired, and confident. Or if you're a candle maker, your brand might feel cozy, thoughtful, and peaceful.
Let those words become your compass, guiding your visuals, voice, content, packaging, and every brand touchpoint.
4. Think bigger than posts, create a whole experience
A cohesive brand isn’t just about what you post... it’s about how someone feels in every space they interact with you. Instagram is just one room in the house. Build the whole home!!
Try this: Align your product packaging, email tone, website & more touchpoints with the same vibe as your social posts. Even small consistency builds major trust.
→ Website: Do a quick home page & about page check to make sure everything aligns with your brand, writing style & photography style.
→ Emails: Look over your welcome email, order confirmation email, abandoned cart email, newsletter. Make sure logos, color palettes and your tone of voice are all up to date!
→ Packaging: Add your personal touch here! Print your branded thank you cards, biz cards, promo cards, write a thank you note to show your appreciation.
→ Social bios: Get a little fun with this. It doesn't have to be SO stiff. Say something quick & powerful they'll remember!
→ Client communication: Proposals, confirmations, thank you's and more. Tighten your client experience and provide an excellent client experience.
→ Product/service descriptions: Show some personality here instead of only listing the features!
5. Be a little off-beat... that's the magic
You don’t have to show up as the most polished business or feel like everything needs to be "professional". The more authentic you are, the more people will feel like they’re supporting a real person, not just a business.
Try this: Share something that feels personal or imperfect, your messy office, a spur of the moment/real time video, or a hot take on something while you're sitting in your car. Personality is power, my friend!! If any of this has you thinking “yeah… it’s time,” take that as your sign!
Whether you’re just at the beginning of your biz journey or you’ve outgrown a brand that no longer feels like you, there’s so much possibility ahead (and it's so fun to step into your own vibe)!
